The Gamble of Hiring Employees

If you try to do a survey on what comes to a person’s mind when he hears the word “hire”, it brings about a lot of ideas. Nevertheless, the word hire or hiring will always be attached with the word employee; hence you have the phrase “hiring employees”.

Companies would always tell you their own preferences on hiring employees or workers. Most would probably start with qualifications, but you might ask again, what are the qualifications? Some would go for a good education. A good education is proof that the person is smart, has knowledge on the job. After all, the brain is our control tower and what better proof of a person’s intellectual capacity than the grades he has in school. Some would go for skills; it doesn’t matter whether you’re not that intelligent, so long as you have the know-how to accomplish your task. A skilled individual would make a fine employee, skills makes a person efficient, makes him finish work easier. Others would go for experience. Experience is wisdom. One who has previously tried something is most likely familiar with it, knows what to do with it, less likely to make mistakes on the job. Also, you can combine knowledge, skill, experience and other qualifications in determining the best person to hire.

Hiring employees require patience and understanding not only of what you need, but what you know about people. Unlike shopping for a new car, thinking and choosing hard is never enough. People are dynamic and susceptible to change, what he is today may not be what he is tomorrow. Hiring employees is a gamble, a necessary gamble in the business world. You’ll never know when luck finds you.
