Many people all over the world have been victimized by the so-called credit card fraud. It is a problem that has become so prevalent nowadays especially that the use of credit cards is obviously wide spread.

With the advancement of technology, criminals have also advanced in their credit card fraud activities including subtle ways of stealing innocent people’s identity. This includes unlawfully using someone’s credit card account and lavishly use it without the owner’s knowledge. The owner of the card will only discover that he has been victimized when his transaction gets denied for credit over limit or when the bank sends him bills of credit purchases he did not commit.

As a credit card holder, there are a lot of important and practical ways you can do to protect yourself against credit card fraud. First thing is never leave your credit cards and other valuable identifications and documents unattended. Immediately notify your banks in case your cards have been lost or stolen so they can block your card and render it useless.

Second, never give out your credit card number and Personal Identification Number (PIN) to anyone, not even your relatives and friends. Unpredictable things happen every now and then. Your PIN must be something that is easy for you to recall but impossible for others to discover.

Finally, be sure you sign on the white strip located at the back of your credit card. If you don’t, someone with evil intentions might sign on it and use it. Being a victim of a credit card fraud may incur you terrible debts, so don’t let it happen.
