Your weekly job search through the paper is half hearted and fruitless. There seems to be nothing suitable around and you continue in this depressing downward spiral for some time.
So, what is the problem? Other people seem to be able to find their dream job, yet it is still out of your reach.
Sometimes, you have to look further than the local paper for the answer to a problem. Have you considered that the problem with your fruitless job search may be your attitude? Maybe an adjustment in your outlook won't get you the job you are looking for immediately but it will help with the search.
Look for more inspiration, know your worth and different solutions will come to light.
As Winston Churchill once said 'A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity, an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty'.
With the wrong attitude, you won't see the answer to your problems even when it's staring you in the face. Job searches will throw up various possiblities but with the wrong outlook you will convice yourself that you're not worthy, you couldn't do it or they wouldn't want you.
If you look for every avenue of job search's, your broaden the possiblity of finding the right job for you. If you take the initiative and get out there and be seen, applying to places that are not even advertising for staff, you stand a good chance of being in the right place at the right time.
Success in your job search is very much dependant on the effort you put in. No job is going to fall into your lap - particularly if you have that pessimistic outlook. Companies want upbeat staff that have something to offer other than the fact that they can carry out stated tasks and most of us surely want a job where we can be ourselves and enjoy our work.
It is of utmost importance to approach your job search with a positive, confident outlook. It is of equal importance to not appear arrogant and pushy. As with all things in life, balance is what is needed. Too many people overvalue what they are not and undervalue what they are. Often this is done with a view to fitting in with those around them. But do employers want more of what they already have?
It is important to know your strengths, to be able to play these up and apply them to the right job. If you're looking to stretch yourself a little then say so, point out your willingness to learn. Do not point out areas of weakness when looking for jobs. Don't look at anything as obstacles because you can't do it. Look at it as something you have yet to learn.
If there is any aspect of your yearned for career that you feel out of your depth with, look into the possibilites of further education and see yourself on that path to your new job. This way, you may be suffering the every day grind in a job you don't like but there will be light at the end of tunnel with the satisfaction that you are making head way to reach that goal.
Change your thoughts and watch your world change too.
